chastity erodes slowly
like time on a diamond
chastity dies out quickly
like the flame of a candle
whatever the truth, will
i ever be chaste enough?
1. the state of being chaste; purity2. abstention from sexual intercourse; virginity or celibacy: a vow of chastity
Hello my dear readers! Are you ready to take on the Seven Heavenly Virtues today? I am! After a week of diving deep into some pretty gnarly sins (gnarly, who am I?), we are going to examine the counterparts regarded as things to emulate. Now these are traditionally associated with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, but I think we all can look at each of these virtues with an open mind. (I’m not Catholic, but I am very open to see what these virtues are!)
Chastity is in direct opposition to lust (check out that poem here, if you dare). Chastity asks its host to be in a state of purity. Listed above are two important definitions to note: The first relating to a continuous state of purity, which I see as mental and non-sexual; the second relating specifically to sex.
Now it is not my intention to ruffle any feathers. I would prefer not to go into in-depth detail here, but I did write a poem on this virtue, and I do believe in its importance. Chastity asks us to remain pure of the world’s dark sins. It asks us to remain pure-hearted with our intentions.
I will not go into much more detail, because I do not want to harp on any particular subject, but just know that this poem can be interpreted in so many different ways. It is up to you to deduce what you see within the words.
DAY 1 OF THE SEVEN DAY CHALLENGE.
So now we are back to “Day 1” though it is really Day 8 of a two-week challenge. Ugh, how confusing! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed today’s poem, but I am more excited for the upcoming ones. I think there will be some interesting points to make, and you guys do not be afraid to jump in and share your thoughts. I love your dialogue!
Thanks again, my dears!
